Boxing receives massive increase in Olympic funding

The sport of boxing has received a huge boost in Great Britain as the Rio 2016 Olympic games funding programme has provided it with a financial increase of 44 per cent.
Boxing will now receive £13.8 million in the run up to the 2016 Rio games which is a 44 per cent increase from the £9.55 million it received for the London 2012 games.
The 44 per cent increase represents the largest amount of funding given to the sport of boxing in its entire UK history.
The total amount of funding spread over a selection of Britain’s most successful sports has also broken records, with £347 million expected to be paid out over the next four years.
