A record breaking 18,000 tickets were sold in 48 hours for Ricky Hatton’s highly anticipated return to the ring.

18,000 of the 19,000 tickets available at the MEN Arena have already been sold ahead of Hatton’s comeback on 24 November.

This record shatters Mike Tyson and David Haye’s previous records held at the MEN Arena.

The two-weight World Champion was overwhelmed by the fans support, stating: “It's incredible how quickly the tickets have been selling and I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who has supported my return to the ring, whether that's by buying tickets or by the lovely messages of support I've received.

"For so many people, to come out and support me like this, especially in these hard financial times, is absolutely amazing and I'm truly humbled.

He added: "We all need someone to believe in and hopefully I can be that person."

Hatton will return to boxing having spent three years out of the ring after suffering a knockout at the hands of Manny Pacquiao in 2009.
