Bridge confirms Reading move
7th June 2013 12:25pm BST
Reading have announced the signing of Wayne Bridge from Manchester City on a one-year deal.
The Royals stole a match on Queens Park Rangers with an eleventh hour bid and have secured the sought after left-back on a free transfer after he failed to make the grade at Manchester City.
The England capped defender spent last season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion and caught the eye of various teams across the divisions, securing his spot in the npower Championship's Team of the Season.
Speaking on his move, Bridge said: “I’m delighted to be signing for Reading and excited to be joining a team that is going to be looking for promotion next season,”
“I spoke to the manager and he told me about the direction he wants the team to go in. Everything we talked about was positive - and he was really positive about signing me which means a lot."
Reading will be hoping for an immediate return to the Premier League when they begin their npower Championship campaign in August.
