Lloris: "Consistent CL qualification the key"
4th February 2013 2:43pm GMT
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris believes it is essential the club qualify for the Champions League consistently if they are to progress as a club.
Lloris has been in the competition for the past four years with Lyon but, because of Chelsea’s triumph last year, he is playing in the Europa League with Spurs this season.
André Villas-Boas' side continued their top-four push with a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend and Lloris knows the importance of continuing their good form.
He told The Journal: "Tottenham need Champions League football, but it's not about playing just one year in the Champions League, it's about playing there for many years, every year.
"We play this sport to play at the highest level and the Champions League is the best competition for a player. Of course, economically, it's an important thing for the club so maybe the club need it to keep all the best players.
"I think we are in a good place and that the Premier League is very difficult. There are a lot of great clubs and great teams so we have to be consistent."
